Where is the hosting located?
Within the European Union, the BmA cloud infrastructure combines the BmA application (hosted at Hetzner, Falkenstein) with AI models running on AWS in Frankfurt. This hybrid architecture ensures GDPR-compliant data processing within Germany. In the United States, BmA is fully hosted on AWS within U.S.-based data centers.
Can customers choose where to host?
The solution can be used via the existing cloud infrastructure or be implemented on-premises. The on-premises option also supports deployment in customer-owned cloud environments. Before any on-premises installation, a compatibility check and individual planning session are required.
Which models power BioMed Advisor?
We use AI models from Amazon, Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral, and Hugging Face.
Additionally, we plan to integrate specialized biomedical models in collaboration with research institutions such as such as Helmholtz and Harvard Medical School to expand functionalities. Ask us about how you can use your own models.
Does BioMed Advisor provide sources for its answers?
For external research, all responses are backed by verifiable sources.
However, answers based on the trained model’s knowledge do not include citations, as this information is synthesized from the training dataset.
How can one ensure that there are no “hallucinations” in AI responses?
AI-generated hallucinations cannot be completely eliminated. However, BmA employs multiple validation mechanisms to significantly reduce risks, including:
✔ Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning
✔ Systematic source verification
✔ Iterative validation of AI-generated responses
Additionally, two cross-check mechanisms have been introduced:
1️⃣ Critical Answer Review – Allows users to request an in-depth verification of a given response immediately after receiving it.
2️⃣ Second Opinion Chatbot – Allows a second, independent AI model to review and evaluate the response.
What about scientific papers behind paywalls?
Some paywalled papers may be included in the AI’s training dataset.
However, direct access to current, paid publications is not available.
Instead, BmA relies on freely available sources and its trained model knowledge to analyze related topics.
